Club Person of the Year – 2010
The Club Person of the Year award was presented at last night’s AGM.
The Club Person of the Year Award is awarded annually in memory of the late Linda Ryan who was very much involved with the Colts Section of the Club and it is fitting that the award is going to a member who is also involved with the Colts.
This year’s recipient has been a vital cog in the management of the Colts Section of the Club for the past seven seasons.
During the season at the beginning of each week he would be busily organising and arranging matches for Colts teams from Under 8s to Under14s for the following weekend; contacting coaches of teams involved, giving them relevant information before the Friday training session and confirming details with opposing teams. In a regular season that works out at approximately eighty matches arranged.
But it doesn’t stop there. Each season he also organises the Pembroke Colts Tournament for each of the four different age groups. These tournaments are eagerly looked forward to by participating clubs and have always run like clockwork which is a true testament to his organisational skills.
Even though he is stepping down and taking a well earned break he has already volunteered to help out with tournaments next season – so much for the seven year itch!
His commitment and dedication to the position as Colts Administrator has in no small way contributed to Pembroke Wanderers being one of the IHA nominees for Youth Club of the Year 2010 and it would be a fitting sign-off for seven years hard work if the club was successful in getting this award next Saturday.
The Pembroke Wanderers Club Person of the Year award goes to Stefan Ritzen.
