Just not cricket? Jude names squad for upcoming clash of the Pembrokes
The biggest cricketing fixture in this part of the world takes place on July 9th in Pembroke Cricket ground @6pm. Pembroke Wanderers Hockey Club cricket players take on the best of Pembroke Cricket Club in this annual 20/20 fixture! With a year’s bragging rights up for grabs, competition will be fierce and all friendship put on hold until at least after tea-time.

Captain Jude Hayward has named a strong squad today – speaking to Cricketing Wired this morning she described Pembroke’s chances as being fair to middling. Clearly not wanting to give much away Jude observed “there is a good chance Pembroke could win this thing”. Ambiguous speculation or just mind games from Hayward?
Captain Hayward lamented the unavailability of President Dee Mackay – unavoidably away at a training camp with Crazy Golf Ireland, but with some useful talent in the ranks Pembroke (hockey) could pull off a shock win – weather permitting (rain and more rain).
The Pembroke Ladies Hockey Cricket Squad in full is:
Sandra Ryan
Carole Cromer
Karen McCarthy
Jude Hayward (c)
Jen Tutty Ryan
Emer Ryan
Susan Ryan
Lynzer-Buttress-Taylor
Becca Gallagher
Ciara Hughes
Susanne Kineally
unavailable: Dee McKay Ryan
The girls have issued a rallying call for support on the day with Hayward promising one of her trademark cucumber sandwiches for everybody in the audience.
