Pembroke KO'ed by Club de Campo in last 16

The best 16 teams in Europe gathered in Bloemendaal, Amsterdam, last weekend to slog it out for the biggest club trophy in European hockey. Pembroke had qualified for the last 16 thanks to some
magnificent performances in Eindhoven in October where a last minute win against Ukrainians Olympia Kolos Sekvoia was key.

Their prize was a tie against much fancied Club de Campo of Madrid now fielding Ronan Gormley in their ranks. It proved to be a very tough tie for the much younger and inexperienced Pembroke side who were disappointed to go down 11-0. Big up to the travelling contongent who as always were a loud and colourful presence in the stands.

Pembroke Wanderers

Simon Thornton, Ronan Flannery, Alan Giles (c), Karl Lynch, Maurice Elliott, Ken Treacy, Craig Wilson, Michael O’Connor, Adam Pritchard, Patrick Good, Mairtin Cronin, Subs: Keith Crawford, Kirk Shimmins, Scott Furlong, Eric Foy.
