Pembroke Wanderers Juniors, Mission Statement
Pembroke Colts/Fillies section is devoted to creating an honest, safe, friendly and supportive environment for young people between 6 and 16 years-old to learn and develop their team and individual hockey skills. Players are coached to respect the game, coaches, team mates, opponents and officials whilst developing a sense of competitiveness, team camaraderie and sportsmanship. Pembroke coaches aim to provide a high standard of coaching that creates a positive, fun and challenging experience for each player.
Pembroke Wanderers Hockey Club strives to create an environment where opportunities for excellence exist, healthy competitiveness encouraged, friendships are forged and a sense of fun and enthusiasm for the game of hockey is fostered.
Ian has been actively involved with the Junior section in Pembroke for many years. He is a very experienced coach having coached players/teams from Colts/Fillies level through to Ladies Senior Div 1, Intermediate and U21 Interprovincial levels. He has also played at Men’s Senior Div 1 and Senior and U21 Interprovincial levels and has a great knowledge of Pembroke as he has been a member of the club for nearly 30 years.
To support Ian in this role Sinead Guilfoyle will be taking on the administrative duties for the junior section this coming season. Sinead was manager of the U8s last season, has also been a member of the club for many years and recently played for the Irish Women’s Masters in the Home Countries International Hockey Championship in Swansea, Wales.
