Ladies 3rds set up Rathgar cup clash
The Ladies 3rds faced Weston in Serpentine Avenue in the first round of the cup. Despite a strong first half with solid play, the goals frustratingly eluded them.
However their persistence was finally rewarded by an Aisling Sherriff goal from a short corner 10 minutes into the second half.
Weston replied when they got a goal against the run of play, a ball looped up over an unmarked player in the circle who took it down majestically and struck it first time in to the bottom left corner from an angle.
After a few nervous moments, Pembroke regained their composure and Elaine Thompson scored with 13 minutes to go with a well worked manoeuvre down the right assisted by Jen Tutty.
The goal tally was completed by Caitriona Byrne following a run down the right by Lorraine Horgan, who passed it to Elaine Thompson and Caitriona was in position to slot it home.
Final score 3-1. The girls will face Rathgar at the High School in Round 2 on December 7th.
