Ladies to face Trinity in Jacqui Potter Cup semis

Ladies 1sts v Corinthians, Nov 2013 (13)

The Ladies 1sts put in a good performance to overcome Division 2 side Three Rock Ladies 6-0 at Grange Road on Sunday to book their place in the Jacqui Potter Cup semi’s. Our reporter was watching the game at Marley –

After a frustrating 20 minutes, with possession largely held by Pembroke, Rachel Scott managed to open up play from midfield finding Claire Foley in the circle and resulting in Pembroke’s first goal. Pembroke continued this momentum scoring another 2 goals before the half time whistle.

The weather quickly deteriorated in the second half with spells of sleet making the pitch extremely slippery. Julie Garvey for Three Rock was a strong force in defence making it difficult for Pembroke to get away many shots. However, a number of short corners were awarded to Pembroke in the second half compared to just one in the first half to which they took advantage. Haley O’Donnell’s short corner sweep resulted in a goal following a deflection from one of the Three Rock players. She also succeeded in scoring from another short corner minutes later. Other goal scorers included Sharon Carey, Maeve Faherty and Alice Ward.

Three rock had a number of counter attacks but none posed a serious threat to a strong Pembroke defence. The match, largely dominated by Pembroke, resulted in a 6-0 finish.
